Thursday 19th June, 2008 New Interdisciplinary Chair in Pharmaceutical Engineering Science appointed
Professor Anant Paradkar has accepted the Interdisciplinary Chair in Pharmaceutical Engineering Science position and is due to start in September 2008.

This is a unique role that requires the appointed person to lead research programmes at the interface between pharmaceutical science and
advanced materials engineering, in the design of new drug carriers and release systems, as well as in the development of novel delivery devices.
Prof. Paradkar’s role will involve working with colleagues in both the IPI Research Focus Group and the Polymer IRC.
Professor Paradkar joins the IPI from Poona College of Pharmacy, Pune, India where he has been Professor and Head of Pharmaceutics since 1999. His research activities and interests have bridged pharmaceutical material science, drug delivery system design, and process engineering through to clinical evaluations, with his research team funded by numerous significant grants from India Research Council, University Grants Committee, Ministry of Defence India and the Pharmaceutical industry. Professor Paradkar has supervised 10 successful PhD students, published over 65 research papers in international journals and holds 8 patent applications.
