Wednesday 10th August, 2005 IPI to host Yorkshire and Humber CEO Networking Event

The IPI is hosting a high profile regional networking event on 29th September 2005. The purpose of this event is for senior executives involved in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Chemicals industry to meet with senior members of Yorkshire Forward, DTI and Government.

From talking to a number of industry executives and the Regional Development Agency Yorkshire Forward (YF), it has become clear that there is a real need to develop a regional response to some of the challenges faced by healthcare, pharmaceutical, fine chemical and biotech companies.

These challenges include:

• Increasing competitiveness
• promoting innovation,
• addressing the skills gap,
• overseas competition – particularly in the fast growing economies of China and India,
• attracting investment,
• sharing best practice,
• recognising success,
• developing synergies and links between industry and academia,

• engaging support from regional and national government

  Our aim is to provide a forum where all interested parties can meet, in a congenial atmosphere, to discuss real issues, seek practical solutions and influence positive change.

  As this is intended to be the first in a series of such events, we have not chosen any particular theme. Rather we want people to bring forward issues, concerns and ideas for discussion within their peer group and at the same time ensure that YF, DTI, UKTI and representatives from Westminster are involved.

  The event is being hosted by the IPI in its role as a Yorkshire Forward recognised Centre for Industrial Collaboration.
