Friday 11th January, 2008 IPI announces programme in pelvic drug delivery
The IPI has successfully acquired Proof of Concept funding for developing a new depot system for sustained pelvic drug delivery.
Professor Peter O’Donovan, a highly respected Consultant Gynaecologist from Bradford Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, identified a need to improve the administration of drugs to the pelvic region. The proposed method of drug administration will have great potential to reduce the side effects associated with the standard treatment of several common gynaecological disorders.
In addition to the vital clinical input, experts from multiple fields at The University of Bradford are involved. Dr Marcel de Matas from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Innovation; Kay Marshall a Professor of Pharmacology; and the Polymer CIC are all important collaborators in this exciting project.
