Tuesday 26th July, 2005 Incubator Manager at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Innovation

The incubator facility on the fourth floor of the IPI was constructed to assist and develop bioscience start-up companies in the Yorkshire and Humber region. In 2004 funding was obtained from a HEIF2 grant to support the appointment of an Incubator Manager for biosciences activity within the region.

Since February Kevin has been managing clients based in the incubator, and will be conducting the same managerial guidance to clients in the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics (ICT) incubator facility once construction has been completed in Spring 2006.

Kevin has a strong scientific background with good regional connections, well developed commercial skills and an excellent knowledge of the bioscience and pharmaceutical industries. Kevin obtained his degree, in Genetics, from the University of Leeds and his D.Phil, on the genetics of drug resistance in human cells, from the University of York.

Following his time in York, Kevin took a post-doctorate position at the University of Wales in Professor Jim Parry’s lab, specialising in Genetic Toxicology. Whilst at Swansea, Kevin also spent several months at the Zentrum fr Tumorforschung in Essen, Germany.

After Swansea, Kevin moved into industry for a total of fourteen years and spent time working with world leading pre-clinical contract research organisations. Kevin had several managerial roles including heading up the department of Genetic and Cellular Toxicology and later business development responsibility for the Bioscience division. Before moving to Bradford, Kevin also worked for Becton Dickinson in a Europe-wide bioscience business development role.
