Lord Sainsbury was at the ground-breaking Institute of Pharmaceutical Innovation (IPI) at the University of Bradford yesterday to see the hi-tech development for himself.
And he predicted it would help generate investment and jobs in Bradford.

The Institute for Pharmaceutical Innovation (IPI), housed in a new five-storey building on the university’s main campus, will give the pharmaceutical industry an unrivalled research base to bring new drugs to the global market.
The centre will use the very latest artificial intelligence and simulation-based computer methods together with advanced analytical research, to predict how drugs will behave in the human body.

Sunday 26th October, 2003 Institute Appoints First Senior Scientist
The IPI, opened by Science Minister Lord Sainsbury in October 2003, will use the latest artificial intelligence and computer simulation technology together with advanced analytical techniques to predict how drugs will behave in the human body and to research new methods for the development of better drugs.
Dr Leusen said: “I am hugely excited at having this opportunity. The IPI is the perfect vehicle with which we can push to a higher level the understanding of drugs development.”
