Research clusters and facilities

The IPI research is grouped into 2 clusters, covering areas of clear purpose identified against IPI’s core strengths and future ambitions.

The IPI clusters are:

1. Computational and Molecular Pharmaceutics

Computational facilities include:
A 96 processor linux cluster, several high-end graphical workstations, and a large screen three dimensional visualisation system. Software to predict structures and properties, to simulate processes, and to analyse data.

2. Analytics, Bioanalytics and Performance of Medicines

Researchers have access to state-of-the-art analytical facilities through the University’s £4m Analytical Centre co-located in the IPI building.
Analytical Capabilities include:
Raman Spectroscopy/Microscopy, IR Spectroscopy/Microscopy, HPLC, UV-vis, UV fluorescence, LC-MS, ICP-MS, TGA, DSC, NMR, EPR, Single Crystal Diffraction, Powder X-Ray Diffraction.
